As I flick my orange life jacket on I felt a shiver of about how cold the water will be. The sailing instructor is talking but i'm not really paying attention. All I want to do is jump into a boat and sail.
The instructor has finally finished and the time for sailing has come. I see one of my friends so we partner up and pick a boat. Our boat is white with a light fluro sail. We jump into the boat ready for a day of sailing.
The instructor slowly walks down the pier, he stops at our boat. he bends over and starts to untie the rope. The rope then drops into the boat, “the ropes are undone, your by yourself boys”.
Once the first minutes on water was over my body felt relaxed. I felt like a rock, slowly skimming across the calm lake.
Overall sailing was one of my favourite highlights of camp waihola. It was a good first sail and i can’t wait to do it again.
